70% of Large Companies to be Blogging in 2007
Steve Rubel notes a study by JupiterResearch that found 34% percent of large companies are blogging and another 35% will plan on beginning this year.
These numbers are encouraging, but not a surprise. I don't have access to the full report, but the mention of word-of-mouth marketing leads me to believe this survey is focused on public facing company blogs.
100% of companies can benefit from blogs as a tool for internal communication and collaboration. Blogs are a more effective alternative for the most common form of corporate communication -- word processing documents via email.
The report summary also goes on to state that according to the report (via MarketingVox), 64% of executives say they spend less than $500,000 to deploy and manage corporate blogs.
This dollar figure is a relatively low dollar figure for large corporations though not an indicator that these companies have not bought into blogging, but a reflection of the cost-effective nature of the tools.
